Press Forward Announces Network of Local Chapters

Trust begins close to home. We’re excited to announce the next phase of our plans to strengthen local news at an unprecedented level: Press Forward Locals.

Press Forward Local chapters are an opportunity for funders to create place-based initiatives for local news, driven by the specific needs of their communities. We’re starting in Alaska; Chicago; Minnesota; Philadelphia; Springfield, Illinois; and Wichita.

The Chicago area is home to over 60 independent media outlets that serve the varied needs of our diverse communities and neighborhoods. We’re proud to be part of the coalition supporting Press Forward Chicago.

Others joining us include The Chicago Community Trust, Amy Falls and Hartley Rogers Foundation, Christie Hefner, Democracy Fund, Field Foundation, The Joyce Foundation, Knight Foundation, Polk Bros. Foundation, and the Pritzker Pucker Family Foundation.

Press Forward welcomes and continues to invite additional funders to enhance nonprofit, public, and for-profit news and information.
